Planting that survives a shared space
The approach
Commercial landscapes have a different failure mode to private gardens. They are used by people who did not choose the plants, maintained on a schedule rather than on a whim, and judged on how they look in year five rather than on handover day.
Structure
Raised planters in a dark finish define the circulation and lift the planting to eye level from the seating. Advanced stock was used so the space read as finished on completion rather than in three seasons' time — staked, and set at a depth that lets the root ball establish.
Coordination
Commercial work is as much programming as planting: access windows, other trades on site, and deliveries of advanced stock that cannot simply be rescheduled. We manage that coordination directly rather than handing it to a site supervisor who has never planted a tree.
